Why we focus on women
Our work approach
Gona Mata was born from a recognition of the untapped potential within Ghana's agricultural sector and the disparities faced by women, particularly those displaced from rural areas to urban centres. Witnessing the hardships and resilience of the Kayayei women inspired us to create a venture that not only addresses immediate needs for employment and income but also builds long-term solutions for empowerment and sustainability.
We are a diverse group of professionals with expertise in agriculture, technology, and social entrepreneurship with a shared vision: to leverage Ghana's rich agricultural heritage as a pathway to empowerment for women.
we are sustainable
Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We integrate environmentally friendly farming practices, such as crop rotation, organic pest control, and efficient water use, to ensure our agricultural methods not only yield high returns but also protect and enrich the land.
IMPACT REPORT
Our Technology
Our Integrated Farming Solutions Platform (IFSP) is an innovative technology designed to revolutionize agricultural practices by providing comprehensive, data-driven farming solutions. This platform is a pivotal tool in Gona Mata's mission to empower marginalized women and communities through sustainable agriculture.
Where we work
Northern & Bono regions
At Gona Mata, our commitment to transforming agriculture into a catalyst for empowerment and sustainability drives us to carefully select regions where our interventions can have the most profound impact.
Northern Ghana and the Bono regions stand out as areas with rich agricultural potential, yet they are also home to communities facing significant challenges, including marginalization and economic hardship.
